Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 1st marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a month where thousands wear the Pink Ribbon to help spread awareness about breast cancer and raise money for much-needed research.

Breast Cancer Awareness is a worldwide event. Thousands of organizations, groups, and individuals take part every year. The aim is to get as many people as possible involved in campaigning for breast cancer information sharing and support, it is also a huge drive to encourage women all over the globe to attend Breast Cancer screenings, potentially saving hundreds, if not thousands, of lives globally.

Why Do We Need Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

Every woman’s breasts are different, and they can change throughout different stages of a woman’s life. Many women are unaware of the changes to come, or when they should be getting their regular screening. The information and awareness that is spread throughout October are crucial for keeping women informed about their own bodies and how best to protect their health. Thanks to the thousands of incredible supporters of Breast Cancer Awareness, many women have identified breast cancer in its early stages, when it is easiest to cure.

Not to mention the thousands of dollars that are raised for breast cancer research through sponsored runs, walks, coffee mornings, and demonstrations. The research community continues to develop new treatments and strives towards a cure for all stages of breast cancer thanks to the help and efforts of local groups and individuals whether they have been directly affected by breast cancer or not.

How Can I Help?

Donations are always welcome for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donations not only fund research but they also help vulnerable women get access to the breast cancer support and treatment that they need. One-time and monthly donations also help women attend screening appointments and get access to treatments.

If you cannot donate money, then your time is always appreciated. You can join virtual volunteer groups and help spread the word about Breast Cancer Awareness Month, share links via social media, and even organize your own virtual fundraiser!

Purchasing a Pink Ribbon from your local vendor is also a small but meaningful way to show your support and give a donation at the same time! For more information visit www.natcaf.org for more way to get involved.
